Making the List

Each year our wine team releases its list of the best wines available now. They select the Top 20 using a variety of factors. Most important, to make the list, a wine must deliver exceptional quality for its price. Second, unlike other “best of” lists, the wines on our list must be available for you to purchase now! Finally, we look at the sales of the wines we are considering, as a way to get customer input into our selection.

We thought it would be fun to reward our loyal social following with a “sneak peek” at many of the Top 20 items before the list is released to the public!

The second “sneak peek” is number 13 on our list – Sobon Estate “Rocky Top” Zinfandel. ($16.99/750mL*)

Paul Sobon makes a firm commitment to our environment by crafting this outstanding zinfandel from organically grown grapes at his carbon-neutral winery.

An outstanding bouquet of crushed raspberries leads to tiers of wild berry, plum and smoky vanilla flavors that are rich, ripe and jammy. Supple texture with notes of spice on the long finish.  Enjoy with lamb, grilled pork or braised meats.

Proprietor Gary Mills makes the list with his delicious Pinot Noir that reflects the benefits of a cool climate by exhibiting loads of elegance, with sweet cherry and plum flavors. Perfectly balanced refined fruit and soft tannins create a seductive, silky smooth wine.

The first “sneak peek” is number 18 on our list – Kemblefield sauvignon blanc. Winemaker John Kemble makes the list with his racy, yet bargain-priced white hailing from beautiful Marlborough in New Zealand. ($9.99* 750mL)

A passionfruit and gooseberry nose gives way to a palate sprinkled with ripe tropical fruit flavors, with a hint of gooseberry and citrus. A full flavored sauvignon blanc with great balance and a lengthy finish.
