New from the Michael Mondavi Family: Crimson Ranch
The Mondavi name is synonymous with pioneering California winemaking. With his new Crimson Ranch wines, third-generation Napa Valley winemaker Michael Mondavi has created a trio of wines that are quintessentially Californian.
“Each has elements of winemaking style that has made California famous,” says Taylor Barneby of Total Wine & More’s wine-buying team.
“The Chardonnay is creamy and buttery, with bright tropical fruit flavors. The Cabernet is full-bodied and dense, with rich vanilla and red fruit flavors. And the Red Blend is a fruit basket of flavors, with the smooth and succulent finish California blends have become known for.”
At the Michael Mondavi Family Estate in the Napa Valley, Mondavi produces several notable wines including his flagship Cabernet, M by Michael Mondavi, and the flavorful and elegant Isabel Mondavi wines.
For the Crimson Ranch wines, Mondavi drew on the family’s longstanding relationships around California to source fruit from the state’s best winegrowers. The result is a collection of rich and fruit-forward wines that offer an excellent – and affordable – introduction to Michael Mondavi Family wines.

We were disappointed by the Crimson Ranch Red Blend. It did not taste balanced..there is too much oak/vanilla on the finish. Perhaps it could benefit by aging (or maybe five different grapes in the blend is a case of “too many cooks spoil the stew)
Light for a cab, but surprising bold flavor. Berry undertones, with a crisp finish. I will buy this wine again. This wine was better than wine I’ve had at twice the price. Great job Mondavi Family!
We found the Crimson Ranch Red Blend was a bit too fruit forward for our taste. We prefer a more dry bold red.
We found the Cab had great start and a very nice finish. It was smooth drinking and was great with a beef tenderloin steak.
the 2014 red blend is a well balanced taste with a nice fruit finish, perhaps wish for more of a cab finish, but a great wine for the price range
